Leaders of the 21st Century Scholarships
Investing in America’s Future Leaders
The Leaders of the 21st Century scholarships support high-achieving, low-income rural students who rank in the top 10% of their class. By removing financial barriers, the program helps students from rural communities in Missouri, Kentucky and Florida pursue higher education—and return to their communities as educators, healthcare professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, technologists, and civic leaders.
Total Awards $250,000.

Funded by American Hope Charities, Corp., a 501 (c) (3) public benefit nonprofit, this program invests in students whose talent is strong, but access is limited—strengthening families, communities, and America’s future.
When we invest in these students today, we invest in strong families, stronger communities, and stronger America.
Scholarships Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- High School senior.
- Resident of a rural area in Missouri, Kentucky or Florida.
- Ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class.
- From a low-income household.
Recipients must remain in the top 10% academic standing to remain eligible.
Why This Scholarship Matters
Talent is evenly distributed. Opportunity is not.
Students in rural areas often excel academically despite:
- Fewer AP and advanced courses.
- Limited extracurricular options.
- Reduced access to college counseling and preparation.
These students have already proven their ambition and discipline. This scholarship ensures that financial barriers do not erase their hard-earned success.
Application Requirements
To apply for, students must:
1. Submit a brief biography (200-600 words) telling us about yourself and where you see yourself as a student/scholar moving forward.
2. Submit an essay (750-1,200 words) responding to the prompt below.
3. Upload a recent headshot.

Provide three specific examples and explain how these experiences are shaping your goals, values, and vision for the future.

Scholarships Awards Jury
The award board consists of five jurors. Three members of American Hope Charities board of directors, An appointed member of the State Board of Education and a member of the community being served.
Funding and Disposition Timeline
Scholarships funds received from private and corporate donors are deposited in a Private Client Investment Trust account with Chase Bank.
Each participating school will receive the full amount of the scholarship award in a single payment specifying the name of the student, terms and conditions, and scholar year of study of the award.
